The Writing of Rural Life in the Interwoven Context of Tradition and Modernity: On Qiao Ye’s Novel Baoshui Village

In the vast and prosperous admit of rural writing, the novel Baoshui Village is not lengthy and has a small format, but depicts a representative case. The writing “drill bit” penetrates deep and digs out rich, fresh, and trustworthy information. It is a keen, accurate, and swift reflection of the ongoing diverse and changing social reality, showing a strong sense of reality, a distinct sense of the times, and a conscious sense of literary mission in the new rural writing; a literary writing that originates from personal memory, describes daily life experiences, and has a precise subject orientation; a painting scroll about Baoshui Village featuring both meticulous pencil sketches as the foundation and splashed ink.
