Chen Tien-shi
This study examines the development process of Yokohama Chinatown. Looking back over a hundred years of history, Yokohama Chinatown has overcome numerous crisis and challenges. Facing development crisis after the 1980s, Yokohama Chinatown reproduced the fading Chinese culture, leading the Chinatown to prosperity. In recent years, there has been a frequent personnel flow in Yokohama Chinatown. Many overseas Chinese who have origins in Fujian Province moved from Nagasaki to Yokohama. In Yokohama Chinatown, there is a phenomenon of the transfer of power from overseas Chinese of Guangdong origin to overseas Chinese of Fujian origin. In addition, with the further development of tourism, Japanese enterprises have also entered the Chinatown, improving the diversity in the Chinatown.
