The Multiple Meanings of Science Fiction Realism
(Abstract)
Meng Qingshu
The “realism” in science fiction realism means that Chinese science fiction grasps reality in a three-dimensional perspective and writes about the totality of human society; “science fiction” means the consciousness of dream building, imagination and pursuit of change, using science fiction to think about the future. From the socio-historical and technological dimensions, Chinese science fiction realism is closely related to social reality, showing a strong sense of anxiety and concern for the expansion and change of the meaning of reality by technological development, as well as in-depth reflection on the future of human civilization. Chinese science fiction realism relies on the deep roots of Chinese culture to explore the nature of human beings and reveal the relationship between human beings and the universe, providing a literary reference for understanding and appreciating reality with its own unique creative style.
