The Poet’s “Father” and His Spiritual Field
(Abstract)
Huo Junming
The “father” has always been the most important archetype in literature. The symbols of kinship, the family fables, the poetic constructions and the destinies and spiritual fields reflected by the contemporary poets through the “father” figure are both intrinsically related and distinctly different. Through many images of “fathers” in representative poems, especially the long poems, where history, culture, reality and experience merge with imagination, the dialectical relationship between “father and son,” childhood memories, local ethics and the ultimate point of “death of the father” and life consciousness in contemporary poetry are synchronously revealed.
