The concept of “changes unseen in a century” and China’s strategy for development
(Abstract)
Alexander Lomanov
China has succeeded in responding the challenges from the pandemic and slowing economic growth. There are many reasons or factors for the success. The concept of “changes unseen in a century,” formulated by President Xi, is one of the most important factors. With the conception, Chinese society got timely the warning that deep changes would be coming. It calls the society to adapt to the global changes in such a way that it would benefit the development of China. Thus the mentality and capacity to respond the unpredictable difficulties have been improved, so that China could deal with possible crises better. The de-globalization tendency today is a deviation away from the road to a bright future of the humankind civilization, a short-termism. The present state of affairs, however, may last for a decade or even longer. The big changes in the world force China to change. All the changes, in turn, would have real effects on the development of the world economy.
