A blue book released by the Big Data Strategy Lab in Guiyang and Social Science Academic Press on May 28 showed regional imbalances in China’s regional Big Data development. According to the blue book on Big Data development evaluation in 31 provinces and 31 core cities, the development of large data in China is in the initial stage, in general, but each province is showing different development levels. Lian Yuming, director of the Big Data Strategy Lab, said Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai and related eastern coastal areas of China with solid industrial foundations have become the core area of Big Data development, while Guizhou province, located in underdeveloped western China, has also gained a first-mover advantage through strategic innovation and it has achieved its proper place in regional competition.
