Literary values may get lost in tide of big data

From Nov. 1 to 2, the 18th Annual Academic Conference on Contemporary Chinese Literature was held in Wuhan. Though it is accurately able to calculate the online click rate, big data fails to evaluate the actual reading effectiveness of readers, Wei Lan, a professor from Hubei University said. To some extent, big data is a commercial tool, Wei added, “We should not mystify big data, which sometimes features low value and complex types. Some important literary values may get lost in the tide of big data.”
