Recently, the International Symposium on Low Carbon Urbanization and Sustainable Infrastructure convened in Beijing. Chinese, Japanese and South Korean experts introduced their experience and achievements in developing low-carbon cities and discussed policy and methods as well as financial and economic problems, and the ramification of lowering carbon emissions on population, transportation and energy use within cities. Noting the rapid urbanization across many parts of Northeast Asia, experts say experience indicates that the key to low-carbon urbanization is human-oriented planning, management and cooperation.
