On Jan.6, the Symposium on Ming and Qing Poetry and Literature on the Diaoyu Islands took place in Beijing. The event was organized by the editorial department of Literary Heritage from the Institute of Chinese Literature at CASS. In recent years, literary researchers have examined poetry on the Diaoyu Islands written during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Their findings have proved again that the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islets are the inherent territory of China. Literature can provide important historical evidence in support of China’s territorial claims, scholars contend.
