Recently, nine grand tombs complete with entrance ramps were discovered at the Zhouyuan Site. Located on the borders of Qishan and Fufeng counties in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, the Site is where the relics of the Zhou Royal family, which ruled from the 11th century to the 8th century BCE, were housed and is considered the cradle of the Zhou culture. From July to December 2013, the most thorough archaeological excavation of the site to date was carried out at the Zhouyuan Site by archaeologists from Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, Peking University and the Zhouyuan Museum.
